eTail Names QVC’s Black Friday in July a “Best in Social Selling” Winner

February 27, 2019: To celebrate Black Friday in July, last year QVC set out to create the most live streaming original content on QVC’s Facebook page in one day.  This year, that innovative initiative was named a winner in the eTail Best-in-Class Awards in the category of “Best Social Selling by a Retailer”.

Todd Smith, Senior Manager of eCommerce, accepted the award on behalf of QVC during the 2019 eTail West Conference in Palm Springs, CA. Launched in 2012, the eTail Best-in-Class Awards recognizes retailers that have demonstrated excellence in email, search, social media and mobile commerce marketing.

“As a lead adopter of Facebook Live, QVC was one of the first retailers to expand our reach by simulcasting on Facebook Live,” said Alex Miller, SVP of Digital Commerce & Marketing for QVC Group. “Leveraging our success on this platform, we set out to create a digital and social-first Black Friday in July event.”

The Black Friday in July event featured 12 hours of original programming on Facebook Live, including live interviews, surprises, guests and giveaways, all produced exclusively for our Facebook platform.

“Our success with Facebook Live is transforming the QVC business model – creating new a whole new channel for growth and engagement and our achievement with Black Friday in July is just the beginning,” added Miller.
